The AMU is an acute area, where patients are effectively assessed, and initial treatment started by acute physicians and specialist nursing staff.
Diagnostic procedures like X rays, CT scanning, Ultrasounds, Lumbar punctures, drug medicine. 8 bedded area with monitoring facilities, to keep close eye on vital signs of the patient.
The unit is led by the Clinical Director of Emergency medicine.
Close working relationship with the A&E department.
The AMU can be found by entering the hospital at entrance 2 (main entrance) and turning to your left into the car park. We are located next to the Accident and Emergency department. If you enter through the main entrance, AMU is situated in the Blue Zone.
There are parking facilities in front of the hospital with barrier-restricted access.
