PRESS RELEASE

Hospital services - 30 November 2011

Heatherwood and Wexham Park Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is aiming to run services for patients as normal on 30 November 2011. Any patients with appointments or scheduled surgery on that day should turn up for their appointment at the correct time.

Our A&E department will be open as usual. The Minor Injuries Unit at Heatherwood Hospital will be open as usual from 8am to 10pm.

Patients should remember that if they become unwell or are injured they should choose the right NHS service to ensure they get the best treatment. A&E departments are for genuine emergencies and people who are badly injured or showing symptoms of a critical illness such as chest pain. Patients with more minor injuries or illness can visit local minor injuries units and walk in centres, or call their GP surgery or NHS Direct who will provide advice and support as necessary.

Although we are aiming to be open as usual, the situation may change during the day and some services may be affected. In these instances, patients will be informed directly.

Any changes that do need to be made on the day will not affect emergency services. A&E and the Minor Injuries Unit will remain open and fully operational.
