Following the recent reports regarding PIP implants the Trust understands this is a worrying time for patients who have had breast implants, both those who know they have had PIP implants and those who are concerned their implants may be of the PIP brand.
The Trust would like to reassure patients that it has never used PIP implants for any NHS procedures.
In keeping with the Department of Health’s advice, patients should ideally be offered a review by the clinic where the PIP implants were first placed. However, where this proves to be difficult to arrange, we would like to advise patients concerned about their implants to visit their GP for an initial discussion about the options available.
Further information can be found on the Department of Health website which sets out the Government’s response and includes the interim report of the expert group commissioned to examine the issues involved.
